You may be here because you asked me about your recalcitrant computer, so I've sent you here to try some stuff before paying someone a lot of money to do something that you can do quite easily yourself.
First things first. Get rid of that crappy Internet Explorer piece of garbage and use a real web browser. One that is more supportive of standards and not full of exploitable hooks into your operating system. Internet Explorer is likely the reason that you're here to begin with.
For everyday browsing, I use Firefox or Opera. Honest - you'll be impressed.

Over the course of the last several years, I've managed to gain a solid understanding of how stuff works - from server management/administration to information delivery. There are a multitude of platforms and technologies to choose from, and a lot of information to digest. My primary focus is LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP/Perl) and valid (X)HTML/CSS.
I am an advocate of W3C standards. I believe that by adopting these standards I will ensure the scalability and efficiency of any development work that I undertake. There is nothing worse than having to go back and re-visit something that you (or someone else) developed in the past without knowing the mindset behind that development. By adhering to a standard I at least know the foundation of that mind set.
Besides - to paraphrase one of the greats - it is "better to choose a standard and stick with it than to contribute to the fragmentation of the world-wide digital brainosphere."
